The Terra Source

This magic is used by Immortals, dragons, and the Keepers themselves. None of the other races have been able to channel the power of Terra to date.

Possibilities

While the word Terra implies simply ‘earth’, the implications are far greater. Using the endless power available, the wielder can control the very forces of nature from the whispering wind to the molten fires of the mountains. With a gentle nudge, a mountain can be raised, a valley carved, or a river moved. Stumps of trees, as dry as sand, may bud anew with life. The very pulse of Nyecia can return life to the dead.

Limitations

As a channel for powers of unimaginable force, the wielder is much like a lightning rod. Drawing too deeply can result in internal burns and scarring, loss of consciousness, a coma, or even death. Not even the immortal wielders can escape the consequences of overuse. Another thing to remember is that Terra cannot create something from nothing. A tree cannot be born of a grain of sand, only a seed, and so a forest cannot be raised from the desert. Water must be rerouted to create a river. There must be a cloud nearby to call down lightning. Also, each wielder is usually attuned to one region, whether it is an entire country or a single peninsula. Leaving an attuned region causes the wielder to be practically inept with their magic, at least until they re-attune themselves. Attunement can take anywhere from a day to a month depending on how different the area is to the one they came from.

Containment

Like all sources, Terra can be channeled into an object and stored for later use. The most commonly used containers for this source are gemstones, as they are born of the source. The best gemstones are clear, such as diamonds or quartz crystal. Others can be used, even opaque minerals, but the clear stones are superior. And, contrary to popular belief, size does matter.
