Nyecia

Sources of Magic

Nyecia is home to four sources of magic. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses, and some are limited to certain races. The sources are Terra, Arcane, Spiritual, and Fae. The sources cannot be combined in any way by a single person or in a single person. The most important rule of magic is that every spell begun will end, and if the magic is too strong for its user, he or she will perish. Any magic wielder is capable of storing some of their source in an object, though it must be of fine enough quality to contain it without self-destructing.

Introduction

2007 by CL

Welcome to Nyecia, a world of dreams, dragons, and ... other things that start with D. Here, you'll find that magic is a state of mind, an extension of your own imagination. Around each corner there is something different and strange. Your dreams come alive, and have duels of wits with your nightmares - at least, if they aren't trying to kill one another. Remember, the information presented here is meant to inspire you, and there is a lot of it. Every piece of information is linked to everything else, and there may be something amazing if you look in the right place!

A Little History

About 3,000 years ago, The One, a god of immeasurable wisdom and power, created a galaxy on the farthest edges of the universe. Desiring companionship, he created the Keepers, those who he entrusted with the creation and oversight of Nyecia, the singular planet he wished to build. Of the Keepers, the strongest of character was Arallis, who aligned himself with all things righteous and orderly. Opposed to him was the chaotic Vestarí, who loved only herself and thrived on discontent.

The truth of Vestarí's heart was not fully known by the other Keepers until they took stewardship of Nyecia, however. She attempted to turn the Keepers away from one another and overthrow Arallis, but was discovered and cast out. She retreated, hiding in shadows as she created her own army of nightmares, the Corrupt, as well as any mortal whose heart was dark and rebellious.

Those she recruits strike whenever possible, particularly during the time of the second sun, Ignus, ruled by the Keeper Saesty. Once every five years Ignus, which actually orbits Nyecia, comes very close to the world, disrupting most forms of magic in sometimes small, sometimes large ways. This creates a much-desired opportunity for Vestarí to strike at her foes, further distracting them and causing further fluctuations in the flow of magic.

Behind the scenes, the One watches, waits, as his creations live, struggle, hope, and die.
